Did you know that Belgrade has around 16 islands? This is a story about the biggest one of them all, the Great War Island. A unique piece of serene nature in the heart of the city on the confluence of rivers Sava and Danube. It is a home to many migratory birds and some wild animals. A sort of Belgrade’s small private jungle. In this story, you can hear how the island formed, and developed, its political and military purpose as well as what is it used for nowadays by the locals.
